Thanks to Chinky for
sending this in. This is actually the reason I am so reluctant to take my cats over to the US considering that I might be heading back to Singapore! Some of my cats are elderly and I really don't want to subject them to a long quarantine - plus of course they would be indoor only cats here.
Are these regulations valid? Is there room for change?
ReplyDeleteI think the idea is to keep rabies out of Singapore. To be fair, the US does have rabies - but if your cat is an indoor cat, and has the vaccine, I don't see an issue.
ReplyDeleteCan the cats be sent to HK from USA and then to Singapore to bypass the strict regulations?
ReplyDeleteI think some Japanese bypass Japan's strict requirement (not surprising, based on their almost OCD attitude towards hygiene)by sending the cats to HK or Taiwan before landing in Japan.
I believe the only countries exempt at the UK, New Zealand and Australia.
