Why the cat craves mushrooms

Here's an interesting article about cats eating mushrooms. I know some cats do like strange foods - a friends' cats like iceberg lettuce for example. Are there things your cats like to eat which are out of the ordinary?

Two of my cats love leafy veg, another loves biscuits and cake. One of the veg-loving cat eats handles off supermarket plastic bags too but do not like wet catfood! My old Jack loves medicated oil if we would let him drink that, hahaha...

Same here; 2 of my cats just love green leafy veg. It's funny how they seem to know when there's leafy veg out from the fridge, even if they're nowhere near the kitchen! I didn't think veg have any particular smell??!!

And another 1 just loves chewing on plastic bags. Thanks goodness she doesn't swallow any of the lose pieces that get torn out. It's as if she's biting on the plastics to clean her teeth!

Jules - medicated oil?? My cats make faces if they even smell it.

ck - one of my cats does too. I read that it might have to do with lack of fibre and try to feed them more wheatgrass.

My cat likes leafy vegetables. But he doesn't eat them - just likes to tear them into pieces with his teeth.

My cat loves yogurt and dry crackers. I wonder if it's really ok if I give in to his whims ever so often.. =P

yskat - so he just leaves a pile of shredded vegetables? Maybe he can help with salads :)

Eslina - bovril!

Ace - your cat sounds very healthy ;)

Hahaha yah really weird right?! I caught his strange liking for bovril when I was making porridge for my son. He meow-ed so loudly and wanted to lick bovril right out from the bottle! XD

True. But I wouldn't want to eat anything that he has munched on :)

My cat loves leafy greens! Spinach, cilantro and kale are among his favorites! He goes crazy for it as soon as I take it out the fridge!
