Vagabond Cat

A sad and lovely piece about saying goodbye to a beloved cat - something all of us can sympathise with.

Custody over the dog or cat

It's interesting how more and more people are going to court over custody of their animals and I think it's something we're going to see a lot more of. No one ever wants to see a couple break up but instead of people tossing the cat or dog out, it's heartening to at least see that both individuals want to keep the animal.

So they rounded up and killed almost 400 birds on a Thursday in New York and by the weekend, four new birds were there. Sound familiar? Who wants to bet that in another few months there are going to be an entirely new flock of geese?

Oscar, the cat at the nursing home who seems to know when patients are going to die is the subject of a new book. Here's an excerpt - it's interesting that the relatives say that Oscar seems to be there as much for them as for the dying patient.

AVA says no caregivers ask to be on the cat sterilisation programme

This is interesting - according to the AVA now, while the SCRS is back in place (now called the Stray Cat Sterilisation Programme - though if it sounds like a duck, and quacks like a duck.... :)) no caregiver has asked the AVA about it. This is rather strange as I know caregivers who have approached their TCs about it - because they were told this was the proper way to go about it.

On the other hand, since the AVA has said no caregivers have approached them, perhaps the best thing to do now is to write in and ask the AVA how you can be included on the programme. As the letter says, you can email or call - the email address is as given in the letter. You may also want to copy the CEO, Ms Tan, at and the Chairperson at
