It's interesting how more and more people are going to court
over custody of their animals and I think it's something we're going to see a lot more of. No one ever wants to see a couple break up but instead of people tossing the cat or dog out, it's heartening to at least see that both individuals want to keep the animal.

I know of a couple in Singapore who fought over the cats when they split up. Unfortunately it is harder to do "joint custody" with cats than it is with dogs: they generally don't like to be taken to a different flat every few days.
I know a couple who stayed together because of the cats.
