Choosing a pet

For those of you who saw or read President-Elect Barak Obama's victory speech the other night, he promised his daughters a new puppy. Here's a video that is about that, but which I think gives good advice on what to look for when adopting in general.

I was speaking with someone the other day who was worried about shelter animals because she felt buying an animal would ensure some sort of assurance on the temperament of the animal. Really however as this video points out, it is the animal, not the breed, or where the animal comes from, that is important.

If only our ministers will adopt dogs from shelters as example. I think PM Lee has pedigree and recently Lim Swee Say also mentioned retriever for his children.
Only Lee Bee Wah adopted the stray dog that was about to be killed by AVA.

Actually I believe the caregivers ended up putting that dog in a farm.

Is that so? Then that shame must be exposed as she probably used it to gain popularity!?

Thanks everyone for the updates on Xiao Hei. Maybe Brownie should interview her :)

Yes if only more celebs and VIPs would set the example to adopt from shelters. You can still get pedigree doggies there you know. Sharon's inlaws got a jack russell from someone who tied in UNDER the sink.
