Cats and their purrs

Thanks to yskat for sending in this really interesting article on cats and their purrs. Ask anyone who has spent a significant amount of time with a cat and I think they'll tell you that different meows and purrs can indicate different things. They can also be very persuasive as anyone who has been woken up by a purring, hungry cat in the morning can attest - though in the case of one my cats, nipping me has the same effect :)

Letter in straits times complaining about cats again. Makes me really wonder why this guy didn't take precautions to secure the cages if this has happened before

Thanks for the heads up. Apparently the writer commented on his own post and said he had no idea how the cats got in. It does seem strange as I know people who keep cats IN cages - and so far I haven't heard of those cats getting out either. I wonder if there's something else going on the writer isn't aware of.
