Feeding despite the consequences
It's not just people who sometimes feed cats without considering the consequences, like leaving food upstairs, and luring them into areas where the cats will be complained about - some people apparently do it with bears. While I don't agree that the bear should have been shot, feeding the bear in this case, jeopardises its life - and yet the feeder didn't stop. Sounds familiar to many of us.

That's just absolute bullshit. The bear didn't even do anything wrong. Shame on them!
Maybe i am being naive but couldn't they send the bear to some sanctuary or nature reserve or zoo since she seems to be so tame and docile? Why did it have to be trap-and-kill? Yes, irresponsible feeding kills, just like our cats! Why don't these nutheads behave more responsibly?
It's the same with cats Anonymous - they don't have to do anything wrong for someone to complain about them.
Jules - I don't think that nature reserves or sanctuaries or zoos have enough places for the bears. Most bear conservation groups suggest not feeding because it brings in direct contact with people. Imagine if people are scared of cats how much worse it will be with bears.
Sorry but I think its sick to betray the trust of an animal that had come to view humans as friends.
I am reminded of an anecdote about a former zookeeper who was tasked with euthanizing unwanted racehorses. He related how one of the horses was so tame that even when he was shot and didnt die, he still continued to trust humans and didn't run away.
Don't know how people can feel justified doing this kind of thing.
It's the same with community cats - some are so friendly they have been known to walk up to the pest control.
