Feeding Poster

Feeding Poster, originally uploaded by dawnkua.

Thanks to Chinky for sending this in. As he very succinctly put it, this is better than a 'no feeding' poster but still isn't a responsible feeding poster. Would it really kill TCs to put up a poster telling people to feed responsibly?

I feel this is a step forward, the poster implies that it is OK to feed - depending who is reading ; )

Considering the multiple past offical slogans of "DO NOT..." (which reflect a attitude of "talking down"), this is TCs' usual high-handed way of "educating" their residents.

A polite reminder would be nice like "Thank you for keeping the common areas clean". Or if TC prefers to retain the traditional "not", then "Thank you for not ..........".

There is this gahmen fear that if they acknowledge keeping cats in HDB and feeding cats....even responsibly...then it opens up a floodgate..and everyone will keep cats and everyone will start feeding!
How to cull this unnecessary fear and start doing the right thing by acknowledging that there will always be cats, there will always be HDB residents who keep cats and there will always be people who feed cats..and then managing it more effectively!

I agree with Chinky - that there is a fear of opening floodgates. So instead of saying, here's now to to it responsibly, it becomes 'don't do it at all' - which is silly because people DO do it.
